Help.. You suspect that the spiciness of food served in a restaurant is positively correlated with number of soft drinks ordered. What would be your next steps to test your hypothesis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. Plot all data together on a dot plot to assess if there is any visible correlation between the data sets. B. Observe several cases of people ordering food of varying spice-levels and number of soft drinks ordered. C. Pick two points on the dot plot and find a line of best fit. D. Find the correlation coefficient to see how well the line of best fit actually fits the data.

Well this is math, so you can root out any hippie dippie methods like A and B. Seeing is not good enough. For C, if you just pick two points, they could be any two points, they could be random people on medication for all you know, so thats not good enough, so the only thing that would be a good first step is :D
