jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what does 5^0 evaluate to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

keep in mind that \(\bf a^{-n} = \cfrac{1}{a^n}\)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

good, so you're effectively dividing 5^-1 by 1 which leaves you with 5^-1 then you simplify 5^-1 to get \[\large 5^{-1}\] \[\large \frac{1}{5^{1}}\] \[\large \frac{1}{5}\]
