A ball is thrown up with a velocity of 45 ft/sec from a height of 10 ft. Find the position (height function) and the compute the velocity when the ball hits the ground

I know how to do it but I do not know how to put it in equation form like
y = .... I know how to do it if someone can put it in y = equation form
