OpenStudy (tia_sweetheart17):

find the original price of a pair of shoes if the sale price is $63 after a 30% discount

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

The original unknown price was 100%. If the discount was 30%, that means you are paying 70% of the price, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[.7x=63\] solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm just going off of what mathstudent said. You're only paying 70% or .7 of the original unknown value, which I wrote as x, so you end up paying 63 dollars.
