OpenStudy (adrynicoleb):

1) What problems would you expect to observe in an ecosystem without producers? 2) The city wants to buy a new parcel of land to build a new recreational park. What environmental factors need to be investigated before purchasing the land? 3) Why are detritivores important to energy transfer within an ecosystem? Be sure to answer questions one and two in paragraph form using complete sentences.

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

1)Species in the ecosystem will die out. 2) Is the land inhabited by any "important" species? 3) They recycle the dead matters into useful organic compounds. Just build off the sentences

OpenStudy (adrynicoleb):

Ok thanks @oOKawaiiOo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

With regards to the environmental factors for the park, in addition to native species, it also important to take note of any ecosystem services that may outweigh the value of having a recreational park. For example, maybe there is a wetland or old growth forest on the plot of land, which is responsible for filtering the water supply for the city. Is it worth building a park if you now also have to build a water treatment plant to filter your water? Just something to think about.

OpenStudy (adrynicoleb):

OK thanks @danh13

OpenStudy (adrynicoleb):

to be honest im still stuck....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Energy an almost every ecosystem flows from the Sun into the Producers and up through the Consumers. Without the Producers, there is no point of entry for energy into the system, thus nothing would be alive or even exist in the first place.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Detrivores break down organic matter (dead plants and animals mostly) in an ecosystem into forms that are usable to other living organisms for food. They keep the energy in the system from being trapped in dead organisms.

OpenStudy (adrynicoleb):

Ok that helps
