The denominators are NOT the same. So you cannot add the fractions yet. The LCD is 7x^2, so you need to get that first denominator equal to the LCD. You do this by multiplying top and bottom of that fraction by 7x. Then you can add the fractions (after the denominators are equal). So you do this... \[\Large \frac{5}{x}+\frac{6}{7x^2}\] \[\Large \frac{7x*5}{7x*x}+\frac{6}{7x^2}\] \[\Large \frac{35x}{7x^2}+\frac{6}{7x^2}\] \[\Large \frac{35x+6}{7x^2}\]
