@jim_thompson5910

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Carton of what shape? What are the dimensions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first one is an orange juice carton. I believe its 160?.

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

160 what? Here's a way to look at surface areas. What shapes are the faces, bottom, and top? Those should be simple shapes you can calculate areas for.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk im not that great at this...all i know is that the height is 10in the length is 4in and the width is also 4in.

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Would this help you? http://www.mathwords.com/s/surface_area.htm I'll try and look for visual aids.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

use the formula SA = 2*(LW + WH + LH) where SA = surface area of carton L = length W = width H = height

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Okay I got an idea, why not take a picture of the carton and post it here so we'll know what shape it has and apply the right formula.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The formula above only works if the carton is a box (or a prism)

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

This is what I was trying to find http://image.tutorvista.com/Qimages/QD/37588.gif This is how you can see boxes as. They are combinations of squares and rectangles.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No its a box i think the first website will work for me. Thanks Guys!

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

You're welcome
