What type of Islam did the Safavid Empire follow? What are Mughals? What was unique about the Mugal rule in India?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

muslim

OpenStudy (confusionist):

Shi'a Islam was what they followed. :) The Safavid Empire actually challenged the Mughals along with the Ottoman Empire! A Mogul was a member of the Muslim Dynasty of Mongol. I'm not sure if you know about Tamerlane yet, but the successors of Tamerlane actually founded the Muslim Dynasty. They were from Persia. I assume you already know a lot about that area considering thats the main area you're asking about. After invading India, the Muslim Dynasty's emperor, Babur took control of Delhi. And to top it all off, Prince Babur was quite smart. He was a descendant of Genghis Khan and Timur. Keep in mind that they were Muslim ruling a Hindu area. They let the Hindus continue their religion which was strange. They really didn't screw up the rule like one would have expected with the rivaling religions.
