Solve for z: -22 - 5z= 20

Try adding 22 to the other side then divide that number by -5
z= -42 over 5
I did do the addition and I got -2. Then should I divide -2/-5=0.4?

I mean like why do you add positive 22?
1. Add 22 to both sides (to 20) 2. -5z=42 4. z=42/-5
You add 22 because in the equation, it is -22, so you do the opposite.

If it was positive 22, you would subtract it from 20.
