I have a question on the problem set for unit 2 number 2C- 10. Why is x/sqrt((100)^2 + x^2)) the sin of alpha and not cos? Isn't x the adjacent side to alpha and 100 the opposite side? And the same for beta .

You're correct. This problem is defective in multiple ways, including an incorrect diagram. My corrected version is attached.
