factor completely. 7x^2+44x+45

OpenStudy (mathmale):

One of the best ways to approach this factoring is to multiply the first coefficient (7) by the last (45), and then look for whole number factors of the result (315). For example: 1*315=315 3*103=315 Continue doing this until you find the pair of factors that ADD up to the middle coefficient, 44. Call these factors "a" and "b". Then write the given polynomial as 7x^2 + ax + bx + 45, Factor by grouping. Good luck. Ask questions if this presentation is not sufficiently clear for you.
