The inner membrane holds the electron transport chain, which is the final stage of aerobic respiration. It utilizes the molecules of NADH and FADH2 formed during glycolysis and the Krebs cycle to produce great amounts of ATP. Krebs cycle takes place in mitochondrial matrix. Glycolysis takes place in cytoplasm (cytosol)
