An isosceles triangle has a perimeter of 63 with base measuring 4x – 2 ft and congruent sides 3x + 5. What is the length of the base?

OpenStudy (phi):

I would add up the 3 legs and set that sum equal to 63 solve for x then find the base using the formula base= 4x-2

OpenStudy (phi):

Step 1: write down the length of each side and put a + sign in between them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the length isn't given?>

OpenStudy (phi):

The lengths are given as "expressions" The base is 4x – 2 the two congruent sides are both 3x + 5 you can add expressions... you write them down, and put a + in between them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got the answer o 27.5 is that correct?

OpenStudy (phi):

can you post the work ?

OpenStudy (phi):

Step 1: write down the length of each side and put a + sign in between them
