How would you find x in this triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This triangle...

OpenStudy (loser66):

18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Loser66 Could you please elaborate on how you came to that conclusion?

OpenStudy (loser66):

it 's a right triangle, and you have the formula to find out sin (30) = opposite / hypotenuse and sin (30 ) = 1/2 so, \(\dfrac{1}{2}=\dfrac{opposite}{hypotenuse}\rightarrow hypotenuse =2~*opposite=2*9=18\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What does "sin" stand for?

OpenStudy (loser66):

sin is sin, ha!! how can you not know what sin is . It's trig

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, I have just started geometry. I'm kinda confused so I'm trying to get all my stuff straight.

OpenStudy (loser66):

read my link, it tells you what sin is and it indicates to trig

Ok, thanks.
