HELP!!!!!!! How does the Constitution limit the powers of government?

OpenStudy (mrnebula):

U CAN DO DIS JA

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Constitution limits the government’s power by dividing the government into three separate branches. These are the legislative branch, which makes the law; the executive branch, which enforces the law, and the judicial branch, which interprets the law. The framers of the U.S. Constitution designed this system so that no one branch, party, or person, could get too much power. The branches are able to “check” each other’s power. For example, the federal judiciary can declare a law unconstitutional, even if it’s been passed by the legislature and signed into law by the executive. Also, the U.S. Constitution limits the power of the federal government, by relegating certain powers to the individual states. This gives each state the opportunity to make most of its own laws and set most of its own policy.
