what is the domain and range for y=x2-6x+5 x should be x square

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the domain is all real numbers the range is -5 to infinity.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you show me how you get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To know about the domain.. one of the givens are that this equation is a polynomial, its x^2-6x+5. So all polynomials have a domain that consists of all real numbers.

to find range plot the graph. If you don't know how to do it correctly or well, then you first should solve the equation to find where the graph touches x axis. so it would be (x-5)(x-1)(equal them to zero). here u see that the graph touches x axis at x=1,5. since this equation is a parabola, then this is the interval in which goes to bottom and back to the top, plug in points from 1-5 to see the lowest point (y). And since its a parabola it will go on to infinite
