Could someone help me factor x^2-4x-12? I know it's simple, but I can never get it.

OpenStudy (jojo4eva):

(x-6)(x+2)

OpenStudy (jojo4eva):

what you do is you factor the Xs out into parentheses so then it would be (x )(x ) then find to factors that when added together equal -4 and when multiplied equal -12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay I see, because -6*2=-12, and -6+2=-4... Thanks!! ^-^

OpenStudy (jojo4eva):

Yup if u need help with anything else let me know
