you can manipulate an inequality just like an equality, only when you devide the inequality, the < becomes a >

so if you devide -8x < 56 by -8 you'll get x > - 7

when you devide it by a negative number it turns from < to > and vice versa .. forgotten to write this in the first post. got distracted
