Mary’s yard is a mess. She needs to hire someone to prune her trees and shrubs. A landscaping service she calls quotes her a price of $15 consultation fee plus $8 an hour for the actual work. Mary’s neighbor has offered to help her out. She doesn’t charge a consultation fee, but does charge $10 an hour for her work.

Is that all the question??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oopps no this is the rest Who do you think Mary should hire for a 3-hour job and why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ha lets do it

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Alright so we can set up 2 equations Neighbor...charges 10 an hour...and no constant fee...so this is y = 10h Company charges 8 an hour plus a 15 constant charge...so y = 8h + 15 To find out which would be the better deal for 3 hours...plug 3 in for 'h' and see what you get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If she hires a consultant for 3hrs it is consultation fee $15 + 8$ per hour for 3 hrs which goes around $15 + $24 = $39 But If she take her neighbour help its just 10$ per hour for 3 hrs which costs her around $30 :)
