Ways to get more SmartScore points?
My SmartScore has been "stuck" for the past few days, although I have been actively playing and asking/answering questions.
Simple: don't chat, tutor people and tutor them well. More detailed answer: Smart Score is affected by a number of things. The number of questions you answer - but also the 'quality' of those answers based on a number of metrics, like the length of your responses, how many times you respond, and how patiently you interact with the person for. So popping one letter, one word, one sentence answers and getting medals for it will help you - but not a lot. Actually explaining things, working through the problem with the person and then getting a medal for it will get you a lot farther in terms of SmartScore.
So it's really not a quantity thing, it's more of a quality idea?
Exactly. Quality over quantity. And also, the SmartScore is scaled. Basically it ranks you relative to all the other users on the site. So as you answer a few questions at the start - you move up dramatically compared to all the people who make an account and then just chat with it. When you have climbed up the ladder into the 90s - me, for example - there are so few users left between me and 99 and they are all so active that I gain a new point every couple of months. But then, it is tutoring not accruing ultimately meaningless ranking points that matters.
Very true. Thank you for your advice/input :) I think I had been answering "shallow" questions... you know, the easy ones that don't require much explaining. I'm gonna take on some harder ones. Smart score is really a motivation, but, in all truth, tutoring comes before points/medals, ect.
You are very right, thank you :D
You're welcome. :)
