what type of ion is neon?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if anything it would be an anion since it has a negative charge. Cation for cats have paws.. or postiive charge.. anions for negative charge.

OpenStudy (jfraser):

neon doesn't form ions naturally, it already has a full valence configuration. All other atoms near neon end up looking like neon by gaining or losing electrons to fill or empty their valence levels and forming ions, but neon itself doesn't form those ions
