Tanya drove 4 miles south and 3 miles west. Using a coordinate plane to represent her trip, let the y-axis run north and south, let the x-axis run east and west, and let her original position be the intersection of the axes. Which ordered pair best represents her final location?compass with four arrows coming out from the center. The arrow pointing up is north, the arrow pointing down is south, the arrow pointing right is east and the arrow pointing left is west. (4, –3) (3, –4) (–3, –4) (–4, 3)
4 down, 3 right north/south = y value left/right = x value so?
nope.
4 down = y value 3 right = x value.
Or it might be a ?
stop guessing.
use the given information and conclude.
up/down = positive / negative right / left = positive / negative
Ok, C. (-3,-4)
no -_-
3 right , 4 down.
Omg im confused
i don't know how to make it anymore clear, sorry.
My god. Then it's b.
yes, but you don't know how or why.
Tell me why then?
i just explained it in all the replies i put forth.
3 right, -- > positive 3 4 down -- > negative 4 does that help?
(3,4) Yes , it does
-_-
(3,-4) *
LOL I dont know why u guys are making it so complicated
my explanation is pretty simple, just carefully read it and you'll understand, not that hard
Let me put it in simple way It says 4 miles south and Point on y-axis represent south direction which means y co - ordinate should and must be 4 which is the thing in secondn and third optios
Anyways in both the options it is negative side so we need not really worry about its direction in this case
Now speaking about west direction it says 3 miles west and in the graph always up = North left = west Down = Siuth Right = East
Got it!
And In The Graph Upside of Y-axis all positives and downside of Y - axis all negatives X-axis Left side all positivves Right side all negatives :)
Anytime :)
Thanks! :)
