im taking pre-calculus im in Ch. 5.3 and there is a problem and its tanx+1=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tanx = -1 x = -pi/4 or 3pi/4 all solutions are: x = -pi/4 + k(pi) or 3pi/4 + k(pi), where k is an integer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks , so i dont add[ +n(pi)] ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if it's asking for all solutions the yes. Otherwise, just -pi/4 or 3pi/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhh okay , i might be wrong but when i was doing this problem earlier my final answers were [ 3(pi)\4+n(pi) , 7(pi)\4+n(pi) which in degrees were 135 and 315 , and since i missed out on the lesson i was confuse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-pi/4 (which is -45 degrees) and 315 degrees are the exact same angle
