The surface area of a cube is 864 in2. What is the area of one face of this cube? Please explain the formula/how you got the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Divide by the number of faces and you should have your answer

OpenStudy (tester97):

A cube has six sides, so dividing by 6 will give you the surface area of a single face. A single face of a cube is a square, which has an area of (side length) x (side length), so taking the square root of the area of one side of the cube will give you the length of one side of the cube. So heres the process First divide by 6 Then take the square root This is because cube has 6 sides And one side is equal to the other and their product is the area of one side 864/6=144 square root of 144 = 12 feet
