Which of the following equations has an infinite number of solutions? - 3x - 3 = -4x - 2y + 4 - y = 16 - 7x + 5 = 4x + 5 + 3x - 6y - 2 = 2(y - 1)

There are no easy answers to your question. For polynomial equations in a single variable there are some rules, including a firm maximum number of solutions, but in general it is more difficult. Some are easy: For example: sin(x) = 1 where the domain is all real numbers has an infinite number of solutions, while sin(x) = 1.5 has none, because the range of the sine function is [-1, 1]. For multiple variables there are often an infinite number of solutions: x^2 + y^2 = 25 for example, can be graphed as a circle of radius 5 centered at the origin. There are an infinite number of pairs (x, y) that fall on the circle. x^2 + y^2 = -25 will have no real solutions, because the sum of the squares of two real numbers is never negative. On the other hand if complex valuess are allowed for x and y, we are back to infinite solutions. So the answer also depends upon the universe from which solutions may be taken. The list of possibilities is endless.

wanna hear a secret?

OpenStudy (mrnebula):

shure

OpenStudy (emmigrace222):

i have no clue sorry and suure

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

I can fly and am to lazy to answer this question sorry...

OpenStudy (mrnebula):

thats fine emmi rthis isn't even my question its a closed question but i do need to know

OpenStudy (mrnebula):

lol

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Wait...are all those negative or just have a sign?

OpenStudy (mrnebula):

half and half

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

-_- that answers nothing... lol jk let me see what i can do...

OpenStudy (emmigrace222):

ok

OpenStudy (mrnebula):

this guy knows what hes doing hes part of the after life

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

XD lol nebula totally gets me :P

OpenStudy (emmigrace222):

LOLZ ok brb

OpenStudy (emmigrace222):

ok nvm xD

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Honestly i don;t see any of these that have infinite solutions...they all have one solution or i would say it either put C or find out if there is a Answer is not listed(etc.)...I could be wrong of course...

OpenStudy (emmigrace222):

D: i feel bad

OpenStudy (mrnebula):

i think its D

OpenStudy (emmigrace222):

im fanning you knight xD

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Lol thx emmi :D

OpenStudy (mrnebula):

yea u should

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

wish i could give you all a medal here...but this is what we gonna do...emmi u fan nebula, nebula u fan me....plan works XD

OpenStudy (mrnebula):

he could use a fan he must be hot from that fire hours hes riding

OpenStudy (mrnebula):

i am a fan u help me not have my parents mad at me for a pore grade

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

:O Omg *hugs nubula* thats almost the nicest thing any one has ever said to me...

OpenStudy (mrnebula):

now i hug u 5 weeks ago
