no one can answer this. i promise There were 3 students, 10 dollars each. They put their money together to buy a 30 dollar watch. when they leave the store, the shopkeeper remembers that the watch was worth 25 dollars, not 30. So he gives his trainee 5$ to return to the students. The trainee keeps 2$ for himself and gives 3$ to the students. That makes 1$ returned to each one. So now every student has in fact paid 9 dollars. 9*3=27 with the 2 dollars of the trainee 27+2=29 1$ is missing. Where is it?
There isnt a dollar missing?
Each student net cost of the watch was $9.00 ; $8.33 for the watch and $0.67 for the thieving trainee. with the refund of $1.00 each that each student now has in their pocket, makes the math simple Net cost of the watch $9.00 x 3 =$27.00, the refund $1.00 x 3= $3. Therefore $27.00 + $3.00 = $30.0
This is a classic puzzle. You can find the answer on the web. It's called "where is the missing dollar?"
