The railroad. The reason being, is people lost their rights to the land when the East to West railroad was being built. Part of the reason the initial investment was made to build this rail road was because the rail road was granted ownership of certain quantities of land along the rail road route. This helped the rail road build great wealth because of the property ownership when the railroad was completed.
