Mitosis and meiosis are similar processes, but they have some very important differences. Explain how mitosis and meiosis are alike and how they are different. Provide at least two similarities and three differences. @misssunshinexxoxo

OpenStudy (misssunshinexxoxo):

Mitosis is cell replication in which one cell undergoes Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase to produce two diploid daughter cells. Meiosis (more or less) under goes this process twice resulting in 4 haploid cells. These cells are gametes or sex cells (sperm and egg in humans) and the reason this process works is because when two sex cells fuse in reproduction this results in one diploid cell (instead of a cell that's 4n!). Additionally crossing over (or exchange of portions of chromosomes with one another) occurs during Prophase 1 of meiosis and not at all in Mitosis.
