So I am supposed to graph something for my online class but I am not sure how they want me to do it. Does graphing it out online look better?
Do you have Excel on your computer?
yes I think so.
You can use Excel to draw the graph. You just input the numbers or even the formula and it will do it. What do you have to graph - an equation?
I have to graph a function and then the derivative and second derivative.
Okay do you have the equation?
f(x)= x^2/x^4+1
f'(x)=2x-2x^5/(x^4+1)^2
Wow I keep getting bounced out of here. Anyway I'll try to graph x^2/x^4+1
:) okay. I have never used excel before. I usually use openoffice or word.
Heck I use OpenOffice too - so that will be even better. Again I'll graph it in OpenOffice.
Just to make sure is the equation (x² / x^4) +1 or is it x² / (x4 +1) ?
The equation is x^2/(x^4+1)
|dw:1386912588648:dw|
Okay I'll graph it.
gtg but I will come back on and look at it. :)
By the way, here's how to do it if you have to make another graph: Left column is B right column is C Left column numbers are just entered but column C numbers are calculated from a formula =B5*B5/(B5*B5*B5*B5 +1) In that formula, B5 is in column B, row 5. -10 0.0099990 -9 0.0123438 -8 0.0156212 -7 0.0203997 -6 0.0277564 -5 0.0399361 -4 0.0622568 -3 0.1097561 -2 0.2352941 -1 0.5000000 0 0.0000000 1 0.5000000 2 0.2352941 3 0.1097561 4 0.0622568 5 0.0399361 6 0.0277564 7 0.0203997 8 0.0156212 9 0.0123438 10 0.0099990
Wow I'm getting seriously bounced - makes it tough to post. Here is the graph - I messed up the previous one which I just deleted.
Thanks!
