How do I calculate 4% of $4000?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.04 * 40,000

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

okay So percent is always out of 100 and n is out of 4000 What do you think the equation would look like for that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A percentage can be looked at as a fraction. In fact, it is the fraction 1/100 where the number on top is the percentage you have. So divide your number into 100 equal parts and multiply by 4. 4000/100 = 40 for each percent you have. 4% is going to be 160

With a calculator !!! :) Nha just kidding ! 4000 x 4 then divide by 100
