OpenStudy (cggurumanjunath):

do u have any question to ask ? @PixieDust1

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

@CGGURUMANJUNATH help?

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

I'm gonna make another, cleaner thread

OpenStudy (phi):

I would (first step) find the slope between the given points then use point slope form to write an equation slope is (1-1)/(-2-2) = 0 y - y0 = m(x - x0) y -1 = 0(x- -2) =0 y = 1 is the equation of the line in slope intercept form. general form has all the terms on the left side, variables arranged i alphabetical order.

OpenStudy (phi):

in other words y= 1 becomes y -1 = 0

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

That makes sense!

OpenStudy (phi):

Though I see I could have gotten the answer a bit quicker. at the step y -1 = 0(x- -2) the right side is 0, and this is y-1= 0 this is general form, so I should have stopped here.

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

What does the A and the B represent

OpenStudy (phi):

in Ax + By + C =0 A,B and C are typically integers (no fractions) A should be positive. It is just a way to say: I want a number times x and a number times y + C (another number) = 0

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

Oh! That make sense!! Thanks!

OpenStudy (phi):

A and B can't be interpreted in a special way ... which is why people came up with slope intercept form, where m and b do mean something.
