A dog, who is 8 meters from the base of a tree, spots a squirrel in the tree at an angle of elevation of 40 degrees. What is the direct-line distance between the dog and the squirrel? I suspect this is trigonometry? I also hope you have learned about: \[SOH = \sin \theta = \dfrac{Opposite}{Hypotenuse}\] \[CAH = \cos \theta = \dfrac{Adjacent}{Hypotenuse}\] \[TOA = \tan \theta = \dfrac{Opposite}{Adjacent}\] The question gives us a triangle: 8 meters = Adjacent side. 40 degrees = \(\theta\)
