log(4.9*2.2) evaluate

OpenStudy (homeworksucks):

solve for what? Or evaluate?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

evaluate...sorry

OpenStudy (homeworksucks):

Its fine, no worries. First evaluate the brackets, and then you can use a log table or a calculator to find the log of whatever's in the brackets. 4.9*2.2 is 10.78, and the log of that is 1.0 to 2 sig figs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you ! would i do the same with division?

OpenStudy (homeworksucks):

I believe so, another thing you should be able to do is add the logs if they tell you to multiply (add the log of 4.9 and the log of 2.2), and subtract the logs when they ask you to divide.
