FACTOR

OpenStudy (ranga):

3x^4 - 25x^2 + 60 Let t = x^2 3t^2 - 25t + 60 Can you factor this first?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well you have a slight error given the posting you just closed \[f'(x) = 15x^4 -75x^2 + 60\] which can be factored to \[f'(x) = 15(x^4 - 5x^2 +4)\] which becomes \[f'(x)(x^2 -1)(x^2 - 4)\] or \[f'(x)=(x -1)(x+1)(x-2)(x+2)\] now you can play witht he 2nd derivative to check their nature

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

thats provided you are still asking about \[f(x) = 3x^5 -25x^3 + 60x + 1\]
