OpenStudy (calculusxy):

If a photo measuring 4 inches by 6 inches is placed in a photo frame that is 2 inches wide all around, what percent of the framed photo is the photo itself?

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

(A) 24% (B) 30% (C) 42% (D) 50% (E) 56%

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

It will be: \[\frac{ area of photo }{ area of photo and frame }\times100\]

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

@wolfe8 How do I find the area of the frame?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Try sketching what info you're given in the question. Hint: the width is 2 inches

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

i believ that it is 30% as an approximate answer. i did divide 24/72=33.33333333... (u get the point) multiplied by 100 and got 33.3%. round that and get 30%

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Why approximate?

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

well there wasnt any nearest answer at the first place

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

I think it's something else. Show me your calculation
