OpenStudy (anonymous):

im thinking of 2 decimals. Their sum is 15.2 and when the smaller is subtracted from the larger, their difference is 6.4 . what are the 2 decimals

OpenStudy (mertsj):

x+y=15.2 x-y=6.4

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Solve the system

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im only in 5th grade i didnt learn how to solve that

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Then find the average of the sum and difference. That will be the larger one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add the two equations, which will cancel out y and give you simple equation for x 2 x = 21.6 then use either equation to get y from the x you now have.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just need the answer and how

OpenStudy (mertsj):

You don't know how to find the average of 2 numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Add the numbers and divide by 2

OpenStudy (mertsj):

That will be the average.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but there has to be two decimals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

youre the best i got the answer
