an orchard markets sells fresh mangoes. Mangoes weighing less than 38grams are graded small, those weighing more than 49 grams are graded large and the rest are graded medium.the weight of a mango from a particular tree is distributed with mean 42 grams and standard deviation 4 grams i.find the median of mangoes graded small ii.5 mangoes are selected at random, what is probability that at least 3 is medium iii.if 35 mangoes are selected at random, calculate the probability that their total mass do not exceed 1.42 kilogram

OpenStudy (kropot72):

i. To find the median of mangoes graded small: 1. Calculate the z-score for 38 grams. 2. From a standard normal distribution table find the cumulative probability for the z-score calculated in step 1. 3. Divide the value of cumulative probability found in step 2 by 2. This will give the z-score for the median. 4. Find the value of the required median by using the following formula: \[z=\frac{X-\mu}{\sigma}\]
