Help please!!! find the partial fraction decomposition for 1/ x^2-1. Please explain...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(a+b)(a-b) = (a^2-b^2) is a hint

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be like ( 1x^2+-1)(1-1) ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think the next step is 1/(x+1)((x-1), but I do not know whether you must then work this out so that the numerator is not 1. Long time since I've seen partial fractions.

oh ok... thanks anyways! :)
