Simplify: 555 x 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is 4*4*4? and 8*8*8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4*4=16*4=? 8*8=64*8=? now add those two #s

Let's use previous rule (x^a)^b = (x^(a*b)) So, in order to simplify, 4^3 * 8^3 (2^2)^3 * (2^3)^3 = 2^(2*3) * 2^(3*3) = 2^6 * 2^9 Ok, here is another rule (x^a * x^b) = x^(a+b) Same base numbers being multiplied together. So, 2^6 * 2^9 = 2^(6+9) = 2^(15) Hope this helped. Remember the rules.. =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says 32 or 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for base

Oh ok, you can actually do this 32 = 2^5 So, let's revise our answer 2^15 = 2^(5*3) = (2^5)^3The first rule that i showed before. Now, let's just plug in the 32 in place of 2^15 so, (2^5)^3 = 32^3
