a bookstores has 45 books. 1/3 and 1/5 have been sold how many are left?

You would change your fractions to have the same denominator so 1/3 multiplied by 5 so you get 5/15, then multiply 1/5 by 3 to get 3/15. Add the two together and get 8/15. Then you get the 15 into a 45. Multiply 8/15 by 3 an get 24/45. So in total you would have 24 books left.
