The range of y = 2sin(x) + 1 is any y value between y = 0 and y = 3 True or False I know the range is -1 <= y <= 3, I just need help with this specific question. I think the wording is tricky.

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Do you know the amplitude?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, it's 2.

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

The amplitude (highest point) is 2, the lowest point is -2, thus the graph oscillates on the interval [-2,2]. That interval is the range. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Amplitude is NOT the highest point. Amplitude is the distance from the origin to the crest or trough of the wave. I do agree that the range is the highest point and the lowest point. The correct answer is above. I wanted an opinion as to what would you choose on the specific question.

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

If that's your definition of amplitude, what is a wavelength?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The distance from similar points in a wave i.e. crest to crest or trough to trough.

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Oh I see now...sorry I made an error while giving that answer.

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Silly little mistakes.
