How did the war in Korea influence the United States to support a conflict in Vietnam? @jennaknight_03
the main reason we entered the Korean War was because we wanted to contain communism in Asia. "The domino theory" stayed that once a country is "infected" with communism, it will spread to other countries. That's why we joined Vietnam also. To stop the spread communism.
What was the relationship between decolonization and proxy wars in Africa?
Decolonization is the change from colonial to independent. In Africa, people didn't want to be colonized so they basically fought to be independent, and withdrew their administrators. A proxy war is a war that has been instigated by a major power.

The US used aggressive force, and foreign aid. The US joined the NATO and created the Marshall Plan. NATO was to use force against communist Russia to prevent the spread of communism. The Marshall Plan was an economic plan to stabilize and give large amounts of money to the countries in Europe devastated by WWII. They also used MAD during Truman's presidency, which stands for Mutually Assured Destruction. This meant that if the Soviets ever fired a nuclear missile, the US would retaliate and coin the term "MAD". The US also used military intervention and threats in the following: Suez Canal Crisis, Missile Crisis, and probably most importantly for US History, the Vietnam War.
