Easy Medal Please Explain Two orders are placed at a T-shirt design store. In the first order, two long-sleeved shirts and five short-sleeved shirts cost $89. In the second order, six long-sleeved shirts and seven short-sleeved shirts cost $179. Which system of linear equations below can be used to determine the price of each type of shirt? Let x represent the cost of a long-sleeved shirt, and let y represent the cost of a short-sleeved shirt. A. 2x + 5y = 89 6x + 7y = 179 B. 2x + 6y = 89 5x + 7y = 179 C. 8x + 12y = 268 D. 2x + 5y = 179 6x + 7y = 89

A.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what would make it A could u explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, sorry. In the first order there were two long-sleeved shirts and five short sleeved shirts totaling $89.00, that would be 2x+7y=89. The second order was for six long sleeved shirts and seven short sleeved shirts totaling $179.00, which would be 6x+7y=179. The other options had different amounts of long and short sleeved shirts then the orders in the question had. I hope you understand what I am trying to say, but I don't think I am doing a very good job at explaining this.

Hamilton received a 75 on his algebra exam. The professor is allowing students to take a 7-question bonus quiz to improve their algebra exam score. Each question answered correctly on the bonus quiz will add 3 points to the exam score. Hamilton needs to receive at least a 90 on his exam score in order to make an "A" for the semester. If x represents the number of questions answered correctly on the bonus quiz, which of the following inequalities symbolizes this situation? A. 3x + 75 < 90 B. 3x + 75 > 90 C. 7x + 75 > 90 D. 7x + 75 < 90

For letters A and B if he got three correct answers at three additional points each, he would boost his exam score by nine points, giving him an 84 when added to his previous score. Between those two, letter A would be correct because and 84 is less than (<) a 90. With letters C and D he answered seven questions correctly at three points each, which would boost his score by twenty one points, giving him a 96 with his previous score. Between those two, C would be correct because a 96 is more than (>) a 90. It looks like there are two correct answers unless I am missing something because an 86<90, but a 96>90.

so the answer would be C but the confusion s there is 2 answers but most likely wouldn't they be asking for the highest which would be C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're right, the answer is C. I did not realize that the question was asking which answer would represent an "A" for the semester.

yay so m correct
