OpenStudy (anonymous):

In the expansion of (3a + 4b)^8, which of the following are possible variable terms? Explain your reasoning. a^2b^3; a^5b^3; ab^8; b^8; a^4b^4; a^8; ab^7; a^6b^5

OpenStudy (ranga):

The exponents in each term should add to 8.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so would ab^7 be considered one since a has an exponent of 1 and b of 7 and they sum to 8?

OpenStudy (ranga):

Yes. And there are a few more where the exponents add to 8.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, I understand now, thank you soooo much ranga for always helping me understand my algebra course!!!!
