The timing of the song (Time signature - 4/4, 3/4, etc) Volume (smaller movements mean quieter, bigger mean louder) Articulation/Musical features (staccato, flowing, etc) This is what I'm assuming you could write (but in saying that, I'm not in a choir, just in a concert band.)

The conductor can also specify not just timing, but the pace of the piece they're playing... I know that when we (in an symphony orchestra) accompany a soloist, they sometimes change the speed of what they're playing, so we have to watch the conductor the whole time to see the speed of the soloist.
