Anyone can solve this russian math qn from my teacher who obtained it from Moscow math challenge get a medal+a follow. Given a polynomial have a degree of 19. and it f(n)=1/n for n=1,2,3,4,...,20 only. find f(0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be 0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no the answer stated on the book is 970 rounded off to 3sf

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it has no workings though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does sf stand for?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

significant figures

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does it mean when it says a polynomial degree of 19?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it means ax^19+bx^18+cx^17...+constant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't understand how it relates to the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it means that u need to find the constant term when f(0) is subbed in as all x terms will become 0 and u left with the constant but u dunt know it and is given 20 equations to solve it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sorry but I just don't know what I'm doing here. Hope you find an answer
