Which is a solution of the inequality? p + 4 – 2(p – 10) > 0 A. 29 B. 26 C. 24 D. 22
@kelliegirl33
To solve this first distribute p+4-2(p-10)>0 p+4-2p+20>0 -p+24>0 -p>-24 p<24 so the answer is c.
okay thank :-)
You're welcome
FOR THE FUTURE CHECKERS.... The CORRECT answer is D. 22! I got it right on the test ( I came to openstudy to check before submiting the test because I was unsure but glad I didn't use the answer here and took a chance with my own answer) and here is the explanation. They give us the answer just got to figure out which is right see: p + 4 - 2(p-10)> 0 22+4 22-10 (ignore the -2 for now) 26 -2*(12) 26 - 24 =2 2 is greater than 0 p = 22 The purpose of this problem was to make the solution correct by testing out all the answers. It's not like the other equations where you just use the numbers in the problem like 2*10 + 4 to find p. If you use 24 then it would be "0 is greater than 0" and that doesn't make sense because they would be equal! See WRONG ANSWER using 24 below: p + 4 - 2 ( p - 10) > 0 24 + 4 24-10 (ignore the -2 for now) 28 -2*(14) 28 - 28 = 0 wrong. 0 cannot be greater than 0. Also if you try to cheat and use an online calculator you get it wrong too because they say 24 and that is wrong. don't always rely on those calculators. We got a brain!! Use it XD I dont feel like doing the other numbers you can yourself by following the same pattern.
