Explain how the Korean War could be considered an extension of the Cold War.

It was basically communists vs. America, but instead of the Soviets directly facing the United States, it was North Korea (armed by the Soviets) vs. South Korea (aided by the States). It was a pattern that would continue as both sides used proxies to fight their wars without facing each other directly from Korea to Vietnam.
