Okay I read the Spanish poem "The dark swallows" by Gustavo Adolfo Becquer but I have a homework question that I need help on. Can someone read the poem and explain, what are the Becquer feelings about love, specifically his love for the woman he is addressing? Also the symbolism of the "swallows" in the poem. It confused me.. here's the link of the poem: http://www.recmusic.org/lieder/get_text.html?TextId=29146
I actually read that poem when I was living in Spain... Maybe I can help you.
Ok so he is technically saying that, no one is going to love her like he did. Hes telling her that other loves will come, but no one is going to love her like he does. Do you get it now?
yes..thank you! what would you say the swallows represent in the poem?
they represent the love... but in this case is a dark love because he lost her.
