Which of the following phrases best describes the disposal method used for high-level nuclear waste? concentrate and contain dilute and disperse delay and decay burn and bury <--- ?

OpenStudy (rina.r):

A is the right answer;)

OpenStudy (rane):

its either the first one or the second one because the last one would cause gases which is not the best way and the second last is also not sufficient

OpenStudy (rina.r):

no the answer is A b coz people are afraid of nuclear power and anything radioactive. The more pragmatic answer is to dilute and disperse, but the public would never accept a tiny increase in the back ground radioactivity of the world's oceans. Also, it is really hard to get the valuable isotopes back out of the ocean, but if you concentrate and contain you can always go back and retrieve. :)

Okay thank you! :) you guys helped me understand it as well :). Also if you could answer this one that would be great! Which type of nuclear waste is generated from hospitals and industry, as well as the nuclear fuel cycle, and is comprised of paper, rags, tools, clothing, filters, etc., which contain small amounts of mostly short-lived radioactivity? high level waste intermediate level waste low level waste transuranic waste
